That’s how people are acting regarding the death of one man, as if finally killing one terrorist suddenly makes everything better and the nation’s 100% safe. As if they’re aren’t hundreds of not thousands of people in the world still planning/attempting attacks. Unless killing the big bad boogeyman of 2001 means we’re done fucking with the Middle East, nothing’s really changed. This wasn’t a triumphant victory, more like good PR for a president achingly in need of some memorable moment for his re-election campaign. (Re-Elect Obama: He Killed the Bad Man!) Bin Laden’s victims are still dead, we’re still bogged down in at least two un-winnable wars, and the majority of the world (especially the Middle East) want us to fuck off and leave them alone. Hollow victory anyone?
